Encapsulating, Laminating and Mounting

Encapsulating and Laminating
The two terms are often confused:
Encapsulating is where the document or artwork is enclosed, back and front in plastic that is heat fused to the document (for small sizes this is often in a pouch). This creates a strong semi-rigid feel. These are frequently used for menus and other items where a simple paper copy is not robust enough.
Laminating is where one or both sides of a document or artwork is given a thin plastic coating, usually to protect the print underneath. This can be edge sealed to keep moisture out.

In either case, for displays and exhibitions, etc., the artwork will often be mounted on a foam board or card to provide more rigidity and durability.
